Who Made Us And How We Got Here

Together For Mental Health Mankato was born from a heartfelt belief: that no one in our community should feel alone in their mental health journey. What began as an idea from Taylor Wester of Mending Roots quickly grew into a movement rooted in compassion and purpose. Her vision to have a space for learning, connection, and hope.

With the powerful collaboration of Taryn Surdy of Surdy Family Services and Maria Walker of Gustavus Adolphus College, that vision came to life. United by a shared passion for uplifting others and strengthening the Mankato community, this team turned inspiration into action.

Together, we believe in breaking the silence, challenging stigma, and opening doors to understanding. We believe in the power of community of showing up for one another, of listening without judgment, and of creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and supported.

This Mental Health Awareness Month event is more than just a gathering it is a call to connection, a celebration of resilience, and a reminder that healing happens together. Our hope is that every person who attends leaves feeling empowered, informed, and reminded that support, resources, and caring hearts are always within reach.

Because together, we are stronger. Together, we bring light to mental health. Together, we build a healthier, more compassionate Mankato.
